Our SEND Information Report (SIR)
Welcome to our SIR (SEND Information Report) which is part of Durham County Council’s Local Offer for children and young people with Special Educational Needs. Our SEND Information Report will provide details about how we implement our policy and practice to deliver high quality SEND provision for children and young people with SEN.
The SIR was reviewed and updated in July 2023.
Consultation in Production and Review Arrangements of SEND Information Report (SIR)
At St Francis CofE (Aided) Junior School we ask parents to complete a questionnaire annually. Our pupils share their views by completing, ‘My Views’ independently or with a member of staff by writing or drawing. The information gathered from parents and pupils is used to improve our SIR. The SIR is reviewed and updated annually. It should be read alongside the school’s SEND Policy, the Equalities Information and Objectives, Safeguarding Policy and the Accessibility Plan. The SIR is monitored, evaluated and ratified by the Governor for SEN and ratified by the governing body.
This SEND Information Report should be read alongside the school’s SEND Policy, the Equality Policy Statement and the Accessibility Plan.

All Governing bodies of maintained schools have a legal duty to publish information on their website about the implementation of SEND. The Government has asked all Local Authorities in the UK to publish, in one place, information about the services and provision they expect to be available in their area for children and young people from 0 to 25 who have Special Educational Needs and/or a Disability (SEND). This is known as the Local Offer.
At St Francis' School we are committed to the equal inclusion of all pupils in all areas of School life. We recognise the diverse and individual needs of all of our pupils and take into account the additional support required by those children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Further information about the County Durham Local Offer can be found on the County Durham Families Information Service website (see links below). This informs our school Local Offer.
We have now finalised our Local Offer and have consulted with members of the community and the Children's Council. If you would like to discuss our Local Offer in detail please contact the school office to make an appointment with Mrs Lakey (SENCO).
