Design Technology (DT)

We promote social and emptional development in Design Technology by...

 

  • To work as a team, delegating jobs by strength. This may mean leading or taking instruction from another but understanding everyone has a role to play. (British Value: Democracy)
  • Teaching self-regulation to ensure children accept responsibility for their behaviour and the safety of others. (British Value: Individual Liberty)
  • Encouraging effective conversations about the work we do through self and peer evaluation and to give constructive criticism as a vehicle to improve children learning outcomes. (British Value: Democracy Mutual Respect and Tolerance)
  • To look at products from a variety of cultures and countries. (British Value: Mutual Respect and Tolerance)
  • To understand the need for different products to be needed in different areas of society.

  • To carry out surveys to understand society's view and preferences. (British Value: Individual Liberty Mutual Respect and Tolerance)

  • To be able to review public surveys on a product and gain an understanding about why they may have such preferences.

  • Teaching the children to understand the wider impacts on the environment when designing and making new products and consider carefully the materials and components they will use when designing and making. (British Value: Democracy)
