Science

In Science, we promote spiritual development by:

  • Development of children's sense of awe and wonder of the world around them. Considering the interdependence of all living things and materials of the Earth. (British Value: Mutual Respect and Tolerance.)
  • Searching for meaning and purpose in natural and physical phenomena. The emotional drive to know more and to wonder about the world and aesthetically appreciate its wonders. (British Value: Mutual Respect and Tolerance)
  • Children are encouraged to question accepted wisdom, always to challenge ideas and opinions with evidence that supports it and to understand that some questions cannot be answered by the scientific method. (British Value: Individual liberty)
  • All children are encouraged to form their own opinions rather than just accepting taught ideas. (British Value: Individual liberty)
  • Raising aspirations of children through giving them awareness of science careers.
  • Year 3 Learning about healthy diet and lifestyles
  • Life cycle of a human - Year 5 Learning about important developmental milestones and how our bodies change as we get older. In addition, how we can care for the young and very old.
  • Earth and Space - Year 5 Short discussion about conflicting views as to how the Earth came about. (British Value: Democracy and Individual liberty)
  • Evolution and Inheritance - Year 6 Learning about how traits are inherited or influenced by our environment making us unique. (British Value: Mutual Respect and Tolerance)
