  • Identifying with characters. Children are shown examples of protected characteristics through class texts. (British Value: Mutual Respect and Tolerance)
  • Teaches children to identify and be critical of social attitudes and the use of language.  (British Value: Democracy, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect and Tolerance Rule of Law)

  • English supports moral development by enabling children to look, discuss and evaluate a range of social and moral issues found in a wide range of genre including a range of fiction and non-fiction genres.
