  • Working with the Foundation of Light

    Mon 25 Mar 2013

Today, in assembly, we were visited by Sarah from the Foundation of light. First we played the bean game. We were challenged to be quick beans for a Monday morning wake up.

After Easter Sarah will be delivering a Family Learning Course in school.  She will be discussing learning, health and sport.  For the second half hour children will play games in the hall with their families.  There will be opportunities to go to a Sunderland game. The finale will be a graduation day at the Stadium of Light where the children will be able to run out of the tunnel like a pro footballer.

If you would like to take part, please complete the form that will be coming home tonight and return it to school as soon as possible before the holidays.

  • Believe and Achieve

    Tue 19 Mar 2013
Following our second, very sucessful Believe and Achieve day here at St Francis' I am delighted to be able to upload some audio files from the children and people who supported us explaining all about the day, its aims and hopeful outcomes.

This year we were delighted that so many businesses chose to support us. Our thanks go out to
    Cummins
    Hays Travel
    NGO
    Team Temp
    Mark Earnden
    HSBC
    University of Sunderland
    Dickens and Dees
    The Ladder
    Sunderland Software Solutions
    Darlington Building Society
    Army
    Greggs
    Southdale
    Livin
    Bishop Auckland College

We would just like to say "THANK YOU" to them all. All pupils thoroughly enjoyed the "collapsed curriculum" week where they learnt all about inspiring and talented artists, athletes, business entrpeneurs, scientists etc They were given time to really think about the skills and attributes that they will need to be successful in the workplace and had, by the time Thursday came, come up with a wide range of interesting and thought provoking questions. All in all, a great success and one which we really hope to "do again" next year.
