In Year 4, we have learned all about the Anglo-Saxons in the autumn term, connecting our humanities learning to the legend of Beowulf in English lessons. We then moved into exploring how the Anglo-Saxons were invaded by Vikings. During the Spring term, we have been exploring Vikings and connecting our learning to our class novel: Viking Boy. We had Hrothgar the Viking visit school to tell us all about what life was like in Viking times and we visited Jorvik in York to further develop our knowledge and understanding of Viking times.
In Maths, we have been practising our times tables so that we are fluent and quick to answer any multiplication calculation up to 12 x 12. We have also been brushing up on our formal written methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. In Science, we have carried out scientific investigations and experiments when learning about the human digestive system and solids, liquids and gases.
Remember, Year 4, there are lots of activities in your home learning books to help you remember all of the learning we have done in previous weeks. Try to do a little bit each day but don't rush to get it all done at once! Remember, there are lots of games to help remember your times tables using Times Tables Rockstars! I have been checking to see who has been online and am very proud of all who have climbed the Rockstar ladder to change their avatar and reach higher levels of the game. There are also games on Spelling Shed that you can log into. I will be changing your spellings each week, as usual, to keep you practising our Year 4 words and rules.
Keep it up and I will see you very soon.
