"To be the best we can be"

Thank you to all the mini police who were such wonderful role models at the "Observance for the Commonwealth" event in Durham last Wednesday. They were all an absolute credit to the school!! Y6 -PLEASE REMEMBER to do a "little and often" in your home revision sessions. Rest and time with your family are also important. Thank you!! MrsW

In St Francis we all get the chance to expand our Education to outside of school. Every school term we have the opportunity to do homework. We choose tasks and work to get the number of points we want a certificate for. For example in the Autumn Term the points in Y5/6 were:

  • 18-20 Bronze
  • 21-24 Silver
  • 25-27 Gold
  • 28-31 Platinum

For reading we are expected to get at least 4 reads and 2 tasks completed every week. Y3/4 children are expected to get at least 4 reads and 1 task completed every week. This is a reduced amount for the less experienced readers.  You are allowed to have drawing tasks or a writing task! Children get a choice of their reading but if they don't read parents are contacted.  Our school is very keen with homework as we believe that every child should have the chance to expand their learning when they are at home as well as being in school.

Also we like everyone to have the opportunity to learn maths outside of school as well. So for this reason we send home number bonds and target tables.
